EPIC Recalls Animal Fat/Lard Cooking Oils
Austin, TX (June 16, 2017) – EPIC announced today a recall of all Epic animal fat/lard cooking oils including duck fat, beef tallow, grass fed beef tallow, bison tallow, and pork fat. No other Epic products are included in this recall.
This recall is being issued as a precaution because of a production issue that may result in the growth of unsafe bacteria in the product, a potential food safety risk. No consumer illnesses have been reported related to this issue to date.

Q. What product is being recalled?
A. All Epic cooking oils including Beef Tallow, Pork Fat, Duck Fat, and Bison Tallow are included in the recall. . If you have some in your pantry or refrigerator, just throw it out.
Q: Is the recalled product used in Epic bars?
A: No. The only Epic products impacted by this recall are the cooking oils.
Q. Was there something wrong with the animals and that’s why you are recalling the fat?
A: No. The reason for the recall is a production issue. Our testing has shown the conditions in the jar could allow unsafe bacteria to grow.
Q. Are there specific production dates for the recall?
A. Out of an abundance of caution, we are advising that all products be discarded. If you have some in your pantry or refrigerator, just throw it out. This includes all product produced over the past year.
